James Henry Turner Sr. was born February 8, 1956 in Malakoff.Texas to Cornelius Smith and Henry Goldman. The Lord called our loving father, brother, uncle and paw paw home to everlasting peace on January 31, 2026.

James attended Malakoff High School and later joined the National Guard.

James accepted Christ at an early age. He was preceded in death by his parents Cornelius Smith and Henry Goldman; his brothers Willie James Brown, Milton Turner, Donald Ray Turner Sr., and Parnell Jackson; and his granddaughter Ronesha Womack.

James was a father, brother, uncle and paw paw. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter Aquarius Hart Turner (Roosevelt) of Trinidad, Texas; grandchildren Roosevelt Jr., Romal, Rakwon of Trinidad; sons James Henry Jr., Nickole, Jermaine Jason Turner and grandchildren of Trinidad, Texas; sisters Emma Barron of Malakoff, Texas and Mary Ellen Fraizer of Waxahachie, Texas; brothers Allison (Pete) Jackson of Trinidad, Texas, Bobbie Turner of Malakoff, Texas, Melvin Smith of Athens, Texas, and Carl Wayne Smith (Sharon) of Corsicana, Texas; special daughter LaMesha Brooks of Athens, Texas; special grandchildren Jaylen, JaNesha, Jayvian of Athens, Texas; special lady in his life Leslie Ballard of Trinidad, Texas; and a host of special nieces and nephews, a number of cousins, and a host of other family and friends. His memory will continue through his loved ones.
