James Evans Lightening (Lightner) was born April 12, 1953, in Ouachita Parish to Mr. Dennis Lightening and Sarah Hall (Lightening). At an early age, he joined and was baptized at the New Light Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastors L.B. Brass, Elijah Brass, Lee Armstrong followed by the current Pastor James Johnson.
He departed this life on March 29, 2025 at 1:22 am. James served in the National Guards for a brief period. He was proud iron worker and retired as such. James was a loving father, brother, son, uncle, grandfather, and husband. He always made everyone laugh. He enjoyed music, spending time with family and building grills in his spare time.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son: Demetrius Jones, 2 brothers: Dennis Jr. and Jesse Lighten.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories; His daughter: Sonya Pulley (Earl) of Fort Worth, Texas; his sons: James Lightening of Monroe, Louisiana; Adrian Lightening (Alexandria) of Prairieville, Louisiana; and James Lightner of Haywood, California; his siblings: Tempie Finister of Monroe, Louisiana; Matilda Williams (Lorenzo) of Ennis, Texas; and Charles Nelson (Feleasha) of Sunnyvale, Texas; he was blessed with 15 Grandchildren, and a multitude of great grands, one great great grandchild and a loving host of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
