Hubert B. Lewis, affectionately known to many as “Slim,” was born on June 12, 1939, in Dallas, Texas, to John Lewis and Ethel Mae “Nell” Daniels. He was educated in the Dallas Public School System and accepted Christ at an early age.
Slim worked in housekeeping until he was no longer able to do so. He proudly considered himself the “King of Dominoes” and a true master of the dice game. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching westerns and wrestling.
To know Slim was to know kindness, warmth, and humility. Tall in stature and gentle in spirit, he was the true embodiment of a “Gentle Giant.”
Slim was preceded in death by his parents; his only daughter, Teresa Smith; two brothers, Eugene and Earnest Doyle; and one sister, Clementine Oliver.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one grandson, Cedric Smith; one stepdaughter, Cynthia Brown; two stepsons, Paul and Otis Smith; one sister, Virginia Harrison; one niece, Barbara (Victor) Trezvant; three nephews, James (Rodnette) Johnson, Rodney (Hollyn) Green, and Rodvey Green; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
