Herbert Beasley Obituary

Herbert Lee Beasley, born on May 5, 1935, in Rosser, Texas, to James “Poppa Pick” Beasley and Mary Beatrice Franklin, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was the fourth of ten children in the Beasley family: William Earl (Dorothy), Billy Jean (LC Hubbard), Bennie Doris Lewis (Johnny Lewis), Beatrice (James Marks), Calvin, James Beasley (Maude), Helen (Herman Anderson), Charles Beasley (Lovie) and Marva (Morris)Beasley.

Herbert graduated from Pyle High School in Kaufman Texas, in 1952, and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving two years in Germany. Upon completing his service in 1956, Herbert relocated to California, where he met and married his loving wife, Yvonne Franklin, in 1957. Together, they built a beautiful life.  Herbert worked for the Muni Railway as a bus driver in San Francisco until his retirement in 1993.

In 1996, Herbert and Yvonne made the decision to return to Texas, settling in Mabank, where they enjoyed their golden years together. Their love story was one of shared dreams, mutual respect, and a deep bond that grew stronger with each passing year.

Herbert was a devoted husband for 67 years to Yvonne Franklin Beasley, and a proud father to his son, Larry Beasley, and daughters, Annitta Beasley Shareef (William Jackson) and Jeanine Beasley. He was a cherished grandfather to Tarik Calvin, Jovan (Evita) Calvin, Chloe Davis, Elijah Shareef, Aaliyah Shareef, Laila Shareef, Idris Shareef, Sulaiman Shareef, Hamza (Abby) Shareef, and Khalid Shareef. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Maaz Shareef, Romi Shareef, Kassius Shareef, and Nyla Shareef, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will continue to carry his memory.

Herbert’s love, wisdom, and presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Whether he was telling stories from his youth, sharing a laugh, or simply offering a word of wisdom, his presence was a gift to all who knew him. He was a pillar of strength, kindness, and humility, and his impact on his family will be felt for generations. Herbert leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His spirit will live on in the stories we tell, the love we share, and the lessons we carry forward.
