Carolyn Melissa Green Collier was born on June 15, 1952, in Dallas, Texas to the late Ellis Green and Hattie Richardson. She peacefully entered eternal rest on April 2, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by the love of her family.
Carolyn spent most of her life in Dallas, where she became known for her warmth, wisdom, and radiant spirit. She was the daughter of Ellis Green and Hattie Richardson and the sister of the late Donald Green and Kenneth Green.
From a young age, Carolyn’s life was rooted in faith. She was brought up in the church, participating in the choir and gracing many with her opera-style voice—a rare gift that reflected her deep love for worship. Her faith was not only spoken, but lived. Carolyn evangelized and proclaimed the Good News for many years, always eager to testify to the goodness of God.
Carolyn was a caregiver to many. She became a traveling nurse before it was popular, paving the way for others through her compassion and boldness. She also earned her cosmetology license and used her gifted hands to perfect the look of many. Her career also included time with the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department and at Sears, where she met her late husband, Emmett Collier Jr.
Carolyn had a natural ability to connect with people and to connect others to one another. Her kitchen was one of her greatest ministries. Through cooking, she poured her heart into every dish. She furthered her passion by enrolling in cake school, with hopes of starting her own bakery and sharing joy through her sweet creations.
Carolyn is the mother of her loving daughter LaKenya Green, and the late Delonne Le’Keith Green. She is the proud grandmother of Alexis Green, Azsia Green, Daniel Green-Moore, and Kennedy Green, who carry her spirit, strength, and love into the next generation. She was also a cherished aunt to Paul Green and LaDonna Green, whom she deeply loved.
To know Carolyn was to love her authenticity, her wit, her wisdom, and her unmatched attention to detail. Her presence was magnetic. Her legacy is one of faith, beauty, service, and love. She was a woman who gave God the glory in all things—and now she rests in that glory eternally.
